2008 Viewing Site Nomination & Evaluation Project

Phase 1 of the California Wildlife Viewing Site Nomination and Evaluations project concluded on January 31, 2008 . Independent assessments of all newly nominated sites and existing sites with complete updates will be conducted starting in February, 2008, with final site selection to be completed by May, 2008.

New viewing site nominations and data updates for existing sites will continue to be accepted as part of an ongoing site review process. The Steeing Committee will evaluate submissions at their quarterly meetings. Viewing sites will either be 1) approved without on-site assessment or 2) scheduled for assessment. The next round of on-site assessments will start no earlier than the fall of 2008.

Please see below for a list of approved sites and sites scheduled for assessment by May 1, 2008. These sites will form the nucleaus of the 2008 California Watchable Wildlife Viewing Network, serving as the initial database for a newly redesigned website.

Phase 2, the redesign of the CAWatchableWildlife.org website to accommodate the searchable database, will begin in May, 2008, with completion due in September, 2008.
