Locations:This is a very common species seen at the Lake. Numbers of these birds really start to increase in the winter where they group up as much as 500 birds at a time. This is when it can be an exellent time to look for rare gulls that may be wintering with the California Gulls. For instance, in 2007 a Lesser Black-backed Gull was seen by John Lockhart.
